Description

Edit 1.21.24: Just checked in after a handful of years and I’m so happy to see people still play this. (Or are trying to) I’ve enabled the download as requested. From what I can gather,  you can download a flash player from the Way Back Machine here: web.archive.org/web/2022040102… To run the SWF locally.

You guys are amazing and I’m glad you pop in every now and then to say hi to one another, or share that this was a nostalgic part of your childhood. This was a project I made for myself and my 5 friends who used to roleplay Sonic together. I never expected anyone but those 5 people to ever see it or play it, so this was a terrifying journey for a social anxious 15 year old. But I’m glad this blip of an existence creation I made is something you hold dear enough to be here. I hope you are all having wonderful lives and are happy. Maybe one day I’ll blast this into the 21st century, but probably not this year. (I’m a software engineer now!) Anyway, happy 2024, 2025, 2026, 2027! Congratulations, we’ve survived this long! Here’s to another decade of life, and to the littles who are finding this today: you’re cool!

Edit 2.28.11: Didn't actually change anything but the preview and credit/logo. =P ...Why must my previews look so Jpeggy...
Edit: I've been getting a few messages about the selling of adoptables made with this. You are not permitted to sell images someone else has drawn. I do permit the selling of adoptables when point/money commission is split 50/50 with myself. Too much trouble and I don't really care that much. Do as you like m'dears. : P Not gonna spoil your fun.

I completely and 100% allow you to make a character on this and re-post it on Deviantart. My only rule about this is that you have to put a link back here in your author's notes. And not to claim that you drew it. Simple and easy enough, no?
Also, deviantart has a rule against the upload of screenshots as fanart and digital art. Kindly submit it to scraps. ^^

Some Credit to my friends Sara and Belle because I did use their characters' hair and clothes in this.
I'm pretty sure that the cool cropped metallic-looking shirt belongs to someone. So if that's you, send me a note and let me know who you are and if I can keep it in.
SPECIAL THANKS to my lovely Belle.<3 For sitting through a dozen half finished versions of this and repeatedly tell me she loved it regardless. XD You liar. I <33333 you though.

Comment 1: How do I save/upload this?

For Windows Users:

The short:
Print your screen and paste it into Paint. Crop it and then save it as a PNG.

The Long:
Look down at your keyboard. There should be a button in the upper-right area, Just to the right of F12 that says "PrtSc" or "Print Screen". Now scroll up to your finished character. Make sure that there are no windows in the way. The button should capture everything you see exactly how you see it.
Ready?
Hit your "PrtSc"/Print Screen button.
Good Job, but we aren't done yet. Your screen has just been copied, you need a place to paste it. Click your Start menu. (The button in the bottom left-hand corner of your screen), Then go up into programs and look for one called "Paint". I've yet to meet a Windows computer that doesn't come with it. Chances are it's in Accessories, but some computers are different. Click and Open it.
Almost there.
You are now in a very basic art program called Paint. Go up to the upper left hand corner and click the "Edit" menu and select "Paste". Or if you're a fancy advanced person, click "Ctrl+V". I personally like to right click the stage and click paste, but they all do the same thing.
Whoa. An image that looks just like your screen did before, has now filled the stage area. But you aren't quite done yet. It would be really ugly to upload your picture like this, wouldn't it? Paint is a very simple program, so you can crop it using one of two easy ways.

1. Drag it

What you can do is drag the picture around. If you just pasted there should still be a dotted line around the screen shot. Everything within that dotted square is drag-able. So drag it up into the left hand corner so that the top tips of your character's ears and hair are just visible. That way you can get rid of all the menu bars above it. Then drag the picture so that the left side is right up against the leftmost part of your character. Probably the tail or hand. The, scroll down and to the right and grab the bottom corner of the stage. Now drag it up so that the stage gets smaller and smaller, and pull it so that it frames only your character. If you mess up you can always click Edit>Undo.
There you go! If you did that right you should have a nice rectangle of your character! Yay! Jump down to the bottom for how to save.

2. Select it.

So right now you have your screen shot and there should be a dotted line around it. That line means that if you try to select part of the picture, it will drag it instead, so we want to get rid of that. The easiest way is to select another tool. The left-hand bar is full of tools. Right now we are using the dotted rectangle tool which should be selected and we are going to want to use it again, but getting rid of that drag comes first. So select any of the other tools with a click. Ta-da! The doted line on the top and left is gone! Now select the dotted rectangle tool again. Okay, what we want to do now is draw a dotted rectangle around only your character without getting any buttons or other parts of the flash in it. This might take a couple tries. Warning, don't try to make the box bigger by dragging the sides, that will stretch what's in it instead. If you mess up, click Edit>Undo.
Well it took quite a few tries, but now you should have your character framed in your dotted rectangle. The next part is really easy. Go up to the menu and click Image>Crop.
TA-DA! That got rid of all the other stuff! Now how to save it.

How to Save your Picture.

Go up and click File>Save As...
A menu will pop up. Give it a name and make sure you know where it's going to save so that you can find it later. Now before you click the sparkling save button, you have to make sure that you're saving it in the right format. If it's saved as a .jpeg or .gif, the picture will be all messed up with dead pixels and the colors will change. Saving it as a 24-bit Bitmap won't mess up colors but you won't be able to upload it. Now click the drop down menu to see all the different types. The one you are looking for is called PNG or .png. Find it? Good. Now make sure it's clicked and then click save.
Yaaay! You now have your picture all ready to be uploaded to your Deviantart.

If you need me to submit a step by step guide with pretty pictures and everything, I will. XD Just ask.

For Mac OS X Users:
Command-Shift-3 My friend. It'll take a screenshot of the screen, and save it as a file on the desktop. The rest is up to you.

Comment 2: Where are the males?

Well, there aren't any.
I was considering making one specifically for males for a while, however, it's probably not going to happen. I know, I know. I'm crushing your hopes. And I'm sorry. In all actuality if I did start working on one, It wouldn't be finished until sometime next year because I only end up working on these monthly. It's a lot of work, it's very tedious, and I'm honestly kind of sick of it. I'm sure you would be to. And every time I see a message that says "Where are the guys? Are you going to make a male one?" I frown feeling troubled and it seems a lot less fun when a whole bunch of people want me to hurry up and make one just like the girl one. I mean, it's like... it's really fun to draw your characters being all amusing in your notebook by yourself, but it's really hard to and isn't fun anymore if someone you don't know is watching over your shoulder. It kind of shatters your artistic sense if it's not something you're making just for yourself. Know what I mean? I hope you do. ^^; And I am sorry to anyone who still really wants me to make one, because I don't really want to if I'm not going to enjoy it.

Comment 3: Where are the...?

With the earlier version I got this question the most because, well, it didn't have all that stuff. I did try to add a little of everything but there still aren't hats and the selection still isn't that great so I apologize. Also, chances are, if you can't find it, it isn't there.

Comment 4: Is there going to be another version?

That's a tough one. Maybe or maybe not. If there is, I'll send out one of those page things to all the people who favorited this so no worries.

Comment 5: Will you add...?

I don't mind suggestions, but see, there a bit of trouble with adding more stuff. For example, if I wanted to do something you'd think was easy, like adding just one more hairstyle, it would take me over three hours. Because not only is there all the drawing to do and recoloring it thirty-six times so that it matches with the other hairstyles, then there's over thirty-six buttons that I'd have to add and edit codes for and make it compatible with the color changer. Also the flash takes some time to load from everything... So yeah, you can give me some suggestions and I might put in some of them, but don't necessarily expect me to right away or at all.

Comment 6: You need pants. :(

Yes. Yes I do.

Comment 7: I'm making a dollmaker, could you help me with Flash?

Well sure, absolutely, but you probably know more than I do. I don't know any advance actionscript. Aside from the color picker and the loading screen, this was made just with the commands: stop(); gotoAndStop(); next frame; prev frame; and on (press){etc}. You don't even need play and gotoAndPlay. Am I crazy? I think I am.

Comment 8: This flash game is so awesome.

I <3 You.

Notes:

The mouth is, and has always been, dragable. I just doubt anyone noticed. ^^;

MOST IMPORTANT NOTE
Just because you CAN make a hedgie-fox tiger cat with bat wings, rainbow splotches across it's body from over using body patterns, three hairstyles thrown sporadically on top of one another, and a beak, does NOT, under any circumstance, mean you SHOULD. Create responsibly. Also, I will not be held a cannibal for some of the monsters created with this. X_x Sorry.

Making a female Sonic/Tails/Knuckles gets done a lot. And it isn't necessarily for that so please don't get annoyed that you can't find Shadow's back-pointing spikes or something. (They're hard to draw anyway >.> )

The whole name thing? ^^; Everyone likes their character to have a unique name, so it is kind of saddening and slightly annoying when somebody else finds the same name. However if the name is just a regular person's name, you can't really blame them, Mmkay? Use something super creative like "Miramin" or something random so that if somebody steals it, you can rightfully accuse them of stealing it. XD

If someone leaves a stupid message, you don't have to respond to it. Really, you don't. Seriously. I'd hate to do this because I do like to read a nice message here and there, but I might have to disable commenting. x_O

I do read all my comments, even if I don't respond, rest assured that I have read it.~<3

I am REALLY sorry that this took so long. Like, REALLY sorry. >.<

Known Bugs:
-Mouth Doesn't slide with the rest when you click the finish button.
-Coat sleeves don't revert back to grey.

I remembered seeing this basically the moment it went up, because I’d always get caught up on all the Sonic art that got posted. I dearly miss playing this. Doubt I’ll be able to play it on my iPad. Thanks for the memories and for two of my beloved characters! (Catorce and Amity ❤️)
